WHMIS 2015 changes to the OHS Regulation |
Effective August 4, 2015, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) sections of the OHS Regulation have changed.The changes apply to WHMIS hazard classes and categories, pictograms and labels, and safety data sheets. Roles and responsibilities stay the same.WHMIS 2015 reflects the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) and brings Canada’s system into alignment with the U.S. and other trade partners.
Transition to WHMIS 2015 will take place over several years. There are different implementation periods for employers and suppliers (manufacturers, importers, and distributors). |
